My name is Ben Bolt. I have written numerous guitar-teaching books with CDs for Mel Bay and Cherry Lane, distributed by Hal Leonard. I have studied with Maestro Andres Segovia in Madrid under full scholarship funded by him. Other teachers were Abel Carlevaro and Guido Santorsola in Montevideo. Last year I retired after serving 26 years as professor of guitar at Carson-Newman College, Jefferson City, Tennessee. Without doubt, Ana Vidovic is the most brilliant guitarist and teacher of her generation in the world! In my professional opinion, nobody even comes close to her mastery. I first learned about Ana from my students five years ago. Ana has that rare gift to inspire not only students but faculty as well. This is significant. Personally, I have known Ana for three years. Our guitar society had the chance to bring her in for a concert and master class. I knew she was a great musician, most child prodigies are. What was so refreshing for me was her mature understanding of the musical phase. I became more impressed when I saw her teach. Informative, kind, easy to be around, and had no problems keeping the students to task. Unlike most classes I have been to, everyone could hear the students improve. In addition, like my teachers, she had her guitar with her and demonstrated everything. For students to be that close to somebody that could effortlessly put herself in their position was very impressive. The following year we brought her back. This is when I noticed her ability to communicate with all age groups. She taught all day Saturday, and then gave a phenomenal concert that night followed by shaking hands, selling her recordings etc. When taken out to dinner after her show her grace and style were impeccable. On Sunday morning, she played in two church services. It gave a completely new meaning to the words, “going the extra mile”. She did this without pay. I observed manors, generosity, enthusiasm, communication, love, knowledge, energy and humility. Lucky is the one who hires Ana Vidovic!

Respectfully yours,

Ben Bolt
